Metal Halide Electronic Ballast Specifications


1. The Metal Halide Electronic Ballast shall not have more than +/- 0.5% variation in output power with a +/- 10% variation in input line voltage.
2. The Metal Halide Electronic Ballast shall not have more than +/- 3% variation in output power within all ranges of accepted ANSI lamp voltages.
3. The Metal Halide Electronic Ballast shall have a 'square wave' output whose frequency does not exceed 200Hz.
4. The Metal Halide Electronic Ballast shall be equipped with a safety shut-down feature to prevent excessive pulsing of failed lamps.
5. The Metal Halide Electronic Ballast shall comply with FCC Part 18C, Class A. Furthermore, the manufacturer must show documentation showing that the ballast meets or exceeds the non-consumer limits for EMI & RFI.
6. The Metal Halide Electronic Ballast shall have a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 10%.
7. The Metal Halide Electronic Ballast shall have a Lamp Crest Factor of less than 1.3
8. The Metal Halide Electronic Ballast shall have a Power Factor of 95% or greater.
9. The Metal Halide Electronic Ballast shall be sound rated "A".
10. The Metal Halide Electronic Ballast shall be thermally protected to shut off when Temperatures reach unacceptable levels.
11. The Metal Halide Electronic Ballast shall be UL & CUL "Listed or Recognized".
12. The Metal Halide Electronic Ballast shall carry a Five (5) Year Warranty.
13. In the event of a Ballast Failure during the warranty period, the manufacturer of the Metal Halide Electronic Ballast shall offer up to a $25 labor credit.
14. The Ballast Manufacturer shall have at least 10 years of experience in the manufacturing of Metal Halide Electronic Ballasts for low wattage Metal Halide Lamps.
15. For downlight fixtures, the Metal Halide Electronic Ballast shall be marked "Suitable for recessed use".
16. The Metal Halide Electronic Ballast shell be designated for Outdoor Type 1 usage.
17. The Metal Halide Electronic Ballast shell have an acceptable remote mounting distance of not less than 15 feet.
18. The minimum rating of the Power Supply Electrolytic Capacitor(s) shall be 5000 hours @105oC
19. The specified lamps shall be approved or warranted by the lamp manufacturer for use on the designated Metal Halide Electronic Ballast.
20. The Metal Halide Electronic Ballast shall be "NAIS DCP" brand, or approved equal.
