Panasonic Electric Works Co., Ltd.(Panasonic E.W.) traces its origins to a company established in 1918 by Konosuke Matsushita. In 1935, the forerunner of Panasonic E.W. was established to carry on the work of the initial wiring products business.
Sharing the same roots is Panasonic Corporation(PC) Panasonic E.W. offers over 200,000 different products in its catalog through diverse and far-ranging business groups comprised of: Automation Controls, Lighting products; Information Equipment and Wiring Products, Home Appliances, Building Products and Electronic & Plastic Materials. Panasonic E.W.'s products are used in houses, buildings, commercial and public facilities and factories to support the communications industry and everyday living and working activities. Panasonic E.W. is now active in 34 countries and regions worldwide, performing its operations through 90 companies and total of 150 business sites.

Since April 2004, Panasonic E.W. has joined MEI as collaborative business ties as part of Panasonic Group's revitalization scheme. Panasonic E.W.'s strength is creating of home and living environments, while MEI is involved in everything from devices to finished products, and the systems cover a wide rage of fields.
